This book was indispensable in the early years of mine & my husband's relationship. It made some things clear that just weren't connecting for us before. Unfortunately, I think the book is too long-winded, and the concepts could be communicated a lot more simply. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it any more.

I think all married couples should read this book to determine their love languages and how they can better serve their mate, especially during rough patches. I liked the real-life examples. It's a bit repetitive but worth the read. At least take the love languages quiz at www.fivelovelanguages.com. :)

This is sorta awkward but I legit lost respect for love languages as a concept after I read this book. Was pretty consistently eye-rolling the author and his Christian bias and gender stereotyping.

While it has some aspects of valid psychology, it really is conservative Christian propaganda that has surprisingly made it into main stream discourse

If you're reading this book to magically fix broken relationships in your life, you're going to be sorely disappointed. Turns out love is hard work. This book is a great guide to learning how to love others in their language. It's not a magic science, it's just simple ideas that takes practice. This book has completely changed the way my husband and I communicate with each other (for the better). We plan to reread it in the future too.

So insightful! My husband and I agree that conversation is also a love language, but otherwise, this book is all you need to love everyone you know. It has helped our marriage as well as helping us learn to love our son the way he feels loved.

I don't think this book is necessarily life changing or anything like that, but it is interesting. I think the author probably has a point that people respond differently to acts of love. Some may respond better to acts of services, others to quality time, and so on. Like many self-help books, I thought the stories were a bit self serving and that the points made by the author could have just as easily been made in a short article. I won't be getting any of this other books on this topic, but I'm glad I read this one.

People have already said it, but I'll reiterate: overrated, overly-simple, heteronormative, sexist, and unexpectedly very Christian themed (bible versus included). It's common sense relationship advice wrapped in a Bible-read-along bow. Blah.

Practical advice that makes sense.
