I wouldn't normally read a period murder mystery, but its Elizabeth Bear and it was lovely!

So good!

Lovely historical novella with a young, queer Kit Marlowe and a mystery to be solved. Highly recommend!

Kit Marlowe runs away from home and solves a Marianist mystery. It's very immersive but Kit isn't very appealing. So good writing but not quite my cup of tea.

I liked this a lot. Particularly the way the authors handle Elizabethan English, in dialogue but not in the narrative, so it gives you a real, textured flavour of the era without hampering your understanding. I hope they write more about Kit.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, and it could've been much longer for my money.

I need to make a shelf for books I didn't know were LGTB when I picked them up and got delightedly surprised each time.

Despite some trouble getting my head wrapped around the thee and thou, a delightful story. I would gladly read more about Kit's adventures and even Mog or Joan's stories.

Two stars. I feel really bad rating this so low. I thought the plot sounded right up my alley but I just couldn’t get over the vocabulary and language choices. The authors chose to use period appropriate language which gives authenticity but for me I found it distracting and it made it harder for me to get invested. I think if you can get past the language the story is charming.
