Last Weekend

Four stars. Very readable. Twisty turny. Quite a series of plot twists at the end.

This book is a very twisted mystery. You will never expect the end to come. The plot unravels sort of slowly at first, but then it really picks up. You get to read the book from a few points of view, which is interesting. The main characters are two girls that are best friends and their boyfriends. It starts out with prom weekend, and the main character, Claire, wakes up on a mountain, bloody and confused, and her friends are missing. Claire cannot remember the past 36 hours, and the book helps piece together what happened that weekend.
I thought this was a great mystery because so many different times, I thought it was going one way, but then instead, it would go another way. The ending is shocking. I loved it. Sometimes I felt myself skipping over words to get to the dialogue because it was definitely a longer read, but I loved the book it was great!

I was really enjoying this book until the plot twist at the end. The mystery of what actually happened to the main character and her friends had me gripped from the beginning, but my enjoyment went downhill from about halfway though. I'm definitely going to go back and read other books this author has written!

I’ve enjoyed the author’s other books quite a bit but that final twist out of fucking left field was so unnecessary. Absolutely gross and ruined what was otherwise a decent YA thriller. Would’ve given this one at least three stars otherwise.

Been a little torn on how to rate this book, much less even talk about it. The mystery was built up so nicely… great, fun world building here. I think the third act reveal kind of threw my idea of the story for a loop. I’m not sure if I loved that or hated it. I think some of the reasonings kind of fell flat. Or felt far-fetched. And, I know it’s hugely due to how the entire first part of the book was told from one person’s perspective only. The switch kind of made me hate the characters who had mostly lived on in someone’s memory. But, it was also a good reminder that we just don’t really know anyone, & sometimes they are the worst.

Gone girl, but YA with an extra twist at the end.
Really well done.

Well. I definitely didn’t see that coming. The twists were definitely shocking. The pace was good. I felt like there were a few loose ends not fully fleshed out at the end..but overall a pretty interesting read. Weird, too though.
