Initially I had given this book 3 stars but decided to raise it to 4. I’m a person who loves organizing and am pretty on top of my housework but I think everyone needs a little encouragement at times. If you are going through chronic illnesses and need encouragement to just tackle one thing at a time and just do a little I think this is a good place to start. I think it can also help people who have a perfectionist streak and/or ADHD it could be a helpful book.

Funny and helpful. I implemented her tips and they've been working well. Small criticism: could have benefitted from an edit of the extra chatter and overly long antidotes. I found myself fast forwarding often through the rambling *sorry*.

Mostly stuff I already knew, but I really like the container concept. I hadn't been viewing my space that way.
funny hopeful informative inspiring medium-paced

This book is the best book about house cleaning I’ve read as a person with severe ADHD. Would highly recommend for neurodivergent people especially

Reads like a bunch of repetitive blog posts. Probably because it is.

I absolutely LOVED this book! As a slob myself, so much of what she shared about her own struggles were SO relatable to me! Her ideas aren’t necessarily unique but she described things in a way that made enough sense to my slob brain that I’ve actually been able to follow through with her instructions and I can’t believe the difference it has made being consistent with her house keeping strategies for just a few weeks. I still make a daily effort to keep up with the daily habits or “non-negotiable tasks” but I’ve been amazed at the difference it has made in my home! Highly recommend to anyone who struggles keeping their house clean!

Through "How to Manage Your Home" I have found my people. This book has given me hope for my own home/life, and I plan to implement changes, first starting with the dishes.

This book starts off with the statement it is only for messy house people, don't listen. My house isn't total chaos, but I was feeling overwhelmed with keeping it clean, working full time, mine, my husbands, and kids extracurriculars. This book gave me some clear, concrete ideas that has given me some of my mind time back.

I liked her decluttering book more (and the decluttering parts of this book), but could have done without the home management advice. It felt... very gender normative. There was almost no talk of partners participating in household management as the assumption was women were in charge of all things home. It was a fine companion to listen to while decluttering, but not one I'll be recommending to friends.

This is a fantastic book! The author is so genuine and full of personality and has great ideas that have all worked for her.
