This book is amazing. As smart as I am, I've never been able to figure out how people keep their houses clean all the time. But this book explained it. She called me out on every one of my excuses. I've started implementing her recommendations as I've been reading and even just in a few days the difference has been amazing. My house is so much cleaner. It is in no way perfect, but it's definitely cleaner. The layers of clutter are eroding away, leaving things like tables and counter space visible to the eye. The dishes are getting done every day. If that doesn't sound like an accomplishment, then this is not the book for you, but if you are wondering how to make that occur in your home and in your life, this is your book.
I read this because one of my friends read it and loved it and has been talking it up in our circle of friends. Everyone who has tried it has loved it and had success. I definitely recommend this book. Combine it with [b:Unf*ck Your Habitat: You're Better Than Your Mess|29939402|Unf*ck Your Habitat You're Better Than Your Mess|Rachel Hoffman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1466048026s/29939402.jpg|50329983] and you'll change your life.

This is one I listened to and will be buying so I can refer back to. Very helpful for any well-intentioned person who just struggles to gain traction in their messy house. And messy as in tripping over piles messy. I'm so excited to get started!

Good practical advice on how to manage the craziness of a home. In short: when you don’t know where to start: do the dishes. It’s actually a super simple concept but helps with building momentum through habits. She also discusses the container method, which I heard previously and helped me tremendously. And I like the idea of laundry day. Just a very practical guidebook if you want to get things a bit more orderly at your home!
Ok I do think we have same brain, the author and I. Some things made sense in a way that is surprising to me, but probably not to the average semi-organized person. Will see how it works for me, but I enjoyed this one - 4 stars not 5 b/c I could have done without the chapters that were just her reading reader reviews or comments from her blogs to cement that it works for folks or they love it.
I would recommend this to those who have the strong ability to stop seeing their clutter or mess, or those who have never found a solution with those other organizing books. Now go do your dishes!

She gets repetitive but it is worth it. Lots of good ideas here.
