Following Juliet Ashton's correspondence to her publisher from London and the island of Guernsey is amazing. Her life as a writter during and after WWII is amazing. I utterly fell in love with her and the cast of characters and their lives.

This book is such an inspiration! I loved how the story is told through letters and writings from each of the characters. My favorite genre is historical fiction but this book was on another level.
The underlying romance was a perfect touch!

I really enjoyed this book! The characters are delightful! I liked the concept of the whole book being a collection of letters written amongst the characters - it feels like you are the true recipient of each letter. You almost fill the shoes of Sophie, who never meets the people but hears all about them and feels like she knows them.

The Holocaust flashbacks are heart-wrenching. I read a lot of books in school that took place during the Holocaust, none of which took on this sort of perspective.

This book was... unremarkable?

The entire story is told through letters which was kind of gimmicky for me. I didn't want to be told about events I wanted to witness them. I did enjoy the story overall, but it didn't leave me with any strong lasting impression. Now for something you don't hear often—I preferred the movie.
