I find myself doing a lot of the things that this book suggests, and I definitely do not have a lifetime of joy. For someone who is new to living simply, it is nice. I think this is a great book to keep on the nightstand in your guest bedroom, which is where my copy will live.

This book is simple and insightful, exactly the way that a book about Zen should be. It will definitely leave you with some practical things that you can do to live a happier life, no doubt.

However, it's a bit tricky. In my humble opinion, when you so much focus on applying Buddhist insights on giving advice to people to practically improve the quality of their lives, you inevitably start falling into contradictions. As a very simple example, we all know that one of the fundamental features of Buddhist thought is to stop making distinctions, to abolish binary thinking, to stop thinking of good and bad. But giving a certain number of advices to others to improve their lives is all about talking about do's and don'ts, good and bad.

Fun book. Really enjoyed it.

Perhaps this book will be enlightening for some folks, but for me it fell rather short. It was still a quick read and there were some good thoughts found within the book (and it was also relatively peaceful to read, which is a plus!), but ultimately, it didn't provide anything insightful to me or help in a way I felt was meaningful.
