Good overview of the many methods of gaining traction for a startup, though I think the book could have been longer with more examples and analysis of successful implementations of each method.

The big takeaways here are the enumeration of the 19 traction channels and the discipline to *give each one consideration*. Each channel (i.e., content marketing, ads, etc.) has great examples from interviews with people who have used them successfully. The reader is urged to think: if I had to use this channel, how would I?

The first third of Traction outlines a general framework for experimenting with different traction channels. Most useful advice for an early-stage startup is (1) spend just as much time on achieving traction as on product development and (2) to focus on a single channel, both easier said than done. Rest of book provides a quick primer on 19 different channels to consider, and this portion reads better as a reference guide than a book. I’d want to pick up this book whenever considering a new traction channel to read the relevant section.
