Greek Mythology has my heart and this is a beautiful retelling ❤️

I’m still stewing on this one, and perhaps still debating whether mythology-based fiction is right for me. I enjoyed Circe as a character and loved her growth over the novel (for her, thousands of years). Her loneliness is captivating, and the chapters on her early motherhood are really gutting. I would have liked the arc and the plot to be a bit stronger here, and I felt like the book dragged on in the middle. And I wanted a little more excitement around the witchcraft. But I had fun googling all the side characters who show up, and I felt satisfied by the ending. I’ll definitely be picking up Miller’s other novel sometime soon!

I enjoyed this thorougly. The retelling adds new perspective to the original mythology, making them more complex and modern.
For me the main overarching themes were loneliness and mortality, which is unexpected for a book about a goddess. But it made perfect sense. A beautifully told story.
