I love this novel in verse moment we're having. It was emotional to read this in the wake of Syrian news this week. 

A touching story that grapples well with the struggles of middle school life, racism/islamophobia, immigration, and making new friends. A strong recommendation from me!

This is an important book but also really well written and a great story with the Muslim ban in 2017 seen through the eyes of a regular middle school kid who was born here and is Syrian. The style it’s written in adds to the tone of the story. I can see why it won an award.
