Don't you just love it when the bad guy conveniently spends 20 minutes explaining his motivations and detailing all of his crimes so the victim can understand what's happening before he or she dies? Hate this unrealistic expository style. Lots of description in the book better suited for a bodice-ripper
. And finally--two characters who "trust no one" decide to marry within like a week of meeting?? Seems like they might be violating a personal rule no?

Krentz is back on track with this one -- her classic style, humour and suspense and a bit over-the-top plot. Fun times!

Having dealt w/ panic attacks myself, I found the main character's p/a and PTSD very believable. Full review to come.

When Grace Elland's boss was murdered, she flashes back to a murder she was involved in when just 16 years old. Now back in Cloud Lake to consider her career opportunities, she finds herself enlisting the aid of financial wizard Julius Arkwright to organize a plan of action. And there is also the matter of her email stalker.

A bit of a slow start to this one for me despite the finding of Witherspoon's body in the beginning. Once I was a chapter or two in, it began to flow better. As usual with Krentz's characters, we're given strong women and men, not only in just the hero and heroine. Mysteries and hidden pasts abound here. The positive affirmation hook actually became more interesting as the book went on rather than annoying me, as I was afraid would happen. 4 out of 5.

2.5 stars. Standard romantic suspense. I found it incredibly predictable but I think I may have read too many by this author and have gotten to the 'if you've read one you've read them all' stage. I did enjoy that is was a stand alone and didn't try to force a connection to her Jones & Jones books.

I was a huge fan of the show as a kid, though I can't even remember the last time I saw an episode. 15 years?

This is a collection of short stories, kind of like individual episodes. Different authors, so some are better than others. Fits well with what you might expect to see in the show, though I wasn't as captivated as I remember being with the show.

If you could give half stars this one would be a 3 and a half, but that minor point aside I liked quite a bit about this book. Sadly, I was first mostly interested in the book because Jonathan Maberry was attacked to it, but, unfortunately he's just listed as the editor, which he isn't listed as on the inside, and doesn't contribute a story. He's really just more of a curator for the book.
Loved the X-Files when it was on years ago, and was looking forward to some pretty interesting reads. Some of the stories were great, and really hit on the vibe I got from watching the show. Others were either a little boring, or didn't really feel like an X-Files story to me. One in particular was way off with the way Mulder and Scully acted about the phenomena they were investigating, so much so that it really screwed up what could have been a really cool story for me.
I usually don't complain about things like this, but the editing of parts of this book were terrible, tons of errors, and a part of one story where the characters got completely switched around. Sometimes made for a frustrating read.
If you loved the show, this will probably be an enjoyable read, though great it isn't.
