This is actually pretty good. The accomplice plot twist was a nice touch, because let's be real, pulling off a hijack just via video call would've been ridiculous. That twist saved it from being too far-fetched.

That said, a few things bugged me. Using Middle Eastern men as the terrorists felt tired. I get the reasoning (the revisiting on the ending landed great) and attempt at their moral complexity, but it still made me uncomfortable. Especially in today's growing sentiment on black and brown people.

Also why didn't anyone think to communicate with the flight attendants? Not the FBI, not the ATC. Theo totally could, and it would've made the rescue more well planned and coordinated.

And then there's freaking Big Daddy. I'm guessing he was meant to be comic relief, but, boy, every time he popped up, I can't not cringed.

Overall a pretty solid book. But some different choices could've made it better.

I listened to the audiobook which is read by Steven Weber. He is a great narrator and it is a fantastic book. The action does not stop and I couldn't wait to find out what happens next. Highly recommend it if you like thrillers.

i have been in a book slump for a few months and this brought me right back! i stayed up until 1am to finish because it is so fast paced and action packed i couldn’t stop. i was on the edge of my seat the whole ride!

I’m not sure what it was about this book but I just wasn’t a fan! I felt like it was over hyped. I found it boring and more of a chore to finish which is disappointing because I really wanted to love it!

This book was intense. It was exciting from the start, and kept up the momentum throughout.

I'm not a massive fan of flying (I love take-off and landing, not fond of being stuck up in the air), so this book pushed all the right buttons for me.

The characters were likeable, especially Jo and Big Daddy, and I felt myself rooting for them all and hoping they were going to come up with some way out of the situation. I think the audiobook narration by Steven Weber really helped with bringing them to life.

Although everything wrapped up well (the climax really belongs in a blockbuster movie) the very last bit of the ending felt trite to me. The rest of the book, though, solid five stars! I can't wait to read more from TJ Newman.
