As a flight attendant myself, I absolutely loved knowing the authors background as well as a lot of the aviation talk mentioned in the book.

This book had my attention from beginning to end and really accentuated the fact that us flight attendants are not just Diet Coke machines and door mats for you to walk all over. I felt as if I’ve worked with flight attendants just like Jo, Kellie and Big Daddy… and also pilots like Bill and the good sides of Ben! So it was easy to picture this all playing out in my head.

In a weird way that’s hard to explain, I also loved the depth of the terrorists and showing their pain and background, too. As an American myself, I would agree with them in the way that we are ignorant to places and things “not relevant” to us and are, more often than not, privileged. I liked that it brought light to the saying, “it shouldn’t have to happen to us for it to matter to us.”

I just really enjoyed this book all around and would recommend to my friends, especially fellow aviators.

Based on how the book started, I honestly thought this would be a five star read. The first sentence is “When the shoe fell into her lap the foot was still in it”. WHAT?!?!? The entire first chapter is so graphic and detailed and set an amazing scene for how I thought the book would play out.

But I think how good that first chapter was made the rest of the book underwhelming. The characters were cliche, every moment of the entire scenario was predictable, and when the action started picking up at the end, it got so ridiculous I started laughing (at one point, there’s a scene that’s even reminiscent of the musicians deciding to continue playing as the boat sunk

If you want to have tachycardia for the duration of reading a book, then read this right now. Amazing heroic story during a terrorist attempt on a plane

An interesting concept well executed but not something I will ever think of again. I found myself growing less interested the further the book deviated from the initial premise of the choice.

A+ plane disaster action. Mostly the characters served the action rather than the action doing much to develop character. More interesting than tropes in trench coats but also I don’t feel like following any of them further than the novel goes. However, if this movie gets cast correctly it’ll be one of my all time favorite comfort disasters.

This book takes off fast and doesn’t let up. From the very first chapter, Falling had me completely hooked. The concept is wild—a pilot forced to choose between crashing a plane full of passengers or saving his family—and the tension is nonstop. It reads like a blockbuster movie in book form, and I flew through it (pun fully intended).

The pacing is intense, the stakes are sky-high (literally), and the chapters are short and punchy, which makes it hard to stop reading. I also loved how each character had a role to play, and even side characters felt meaningful.

It does lean more action-thriller than deep emotional drama, and a few moments stretched believability—but honestly, that’s part of the fun.
