Shadow and Bone reignited my love for fantasy. Bardugo did such a great job with world-building, diversity and representation. None of it felt forced, it all felt perfect. Although I was not a fan of Mal...I loved Alina Starkov and her life at the Grand Palace. I loved the Grisha introductions and all the magic and hope. The ending turned around the whole story and headed it in a new direction, which I loved even more. The Darkling was creepy one minute and enticing the next. The various countries and the wars in between them always made me wonder what was next. I recommend this series for sure.
(Oh, and if you want to read Six of Crows...I suggest starting with this series first).

I know he's evil but I can't help but love the Darkling.

A decent start to a series that is a part of the greisha verse. Starts world building and follows a few main characters. Plenty of action and mystery to keep the reader engaged.

Amazing book. I would have never thought it would end like that. This is an amazing well written book for sure.

This book could have been much better in concept. It was a good novel, but it wasn't as focused on the dark creatures or the powers of the Grishas as I would have liked. Hopefully the next one will be a bit better.

This book! I’m at a loss for words about the level of awesomeness that I found on every single page of this book. It had been on my TBR for a while; however, it took me until the end of this year to get through it. It was AMAZING! The characters, the plot, everything just flowed perfectly. I thought there would be elements of the book that I did not enjoy; however, everything just worked out perfectly.

Alina Starkov is a great lead character. She has flaws and she makes a great amount of mistakes; however, in making these mistakes she tries her hardest to make sure they are fixed or rectified. I admired how strong she was in every situation that she encountered. I could not imagine being ripped from my only home and the only person I have loved and then being forced to adapt to a completely new environment.

I've written a full review on this book! I'll update my review as soon as I publish the finished version on my blog.
