Started out well, went off the rails with these weird sort of detached yet overly dramatic omniscient narratives about characters' emotions every once in a while that intruded into the plot. Just show, don't tell, okay? Then, the way the characters "solve" the mystery is more like, "Well, we're out of time so we'll have this sudden inspiration of who the killer is based on nothing whatsoever!" I've not read much Gilbert Morris, although he's prolific, so I don't know if this is an aberration or his common writing style due to his high output.

I enjoyed it, but didn't LOVE it. Might read another in the series sometime.

Fast-moving plot and it wasn't overly predictable, at least to me! I always try to guess "whodunnit" but couldn't until about 50 pages from the end. Really liked the Dora/Grant sideplot. As with all Morris's books, the Gospel is sprinkled throughout.

I found this book very slow paced for a mystery. The first few chapters bothered me, one chapter we`d get a quick glance into one character, and then next chapter switch to another character, and it was very confusing at first to piece together the different relationships of the characters. Getting past the beginning bit though I thought the story was very well laid out, although the pacing could have gone better.

It bothered me that we heard about Dylan`s past at least three times, with almost the exact same paragraph. That being said though, Dylan was my favourite character.

I liked the character development of Inspector Grant, I wasn`t expecting that. I thought it was very sweet of him.

It wasn`t predictable as to who the murderer was, until near the end of the book when the character started dropping certain hints.

Although the pacing was slow for the book, there were certain things at the end that felt very rushed. For one, Serafina`s past, she just kind of blurts it out, and it isn`t really touched upon again, I feel that needed more development. As well, when Serafina realized who the murder is, it happens kind of awkwardly.

*SPOILER*

I mean, Winters bursts into her room and all of a sudden Serafina is like `Gasp! It was you!` Ummm, okay then...

But I did enjoy the overall story, and hope to read the next installment in the Lady Trent Mystery series.
