The Perfect Catch

Meghan Quinn

It’s about time we had a grumpy alpha in this series! Walker Rockwell delivered in this forbidden, workplace romance with Kate Chapman. The tension was so good and the banter could make anyone blush. Hold on tight for a wicked twist too!

Meghan Quinn and baseball, there's just something about that combination that makes my knees get all weak. But when I really think about it, I would probably get weak in the knees no matter what she writes because she can get to the feels without getting too sappy. Her characters naturally progress and bring out all the emotions as you fall into their stories. Such is the case with Walker. In the beginning, he's just grumpy, but as his heart (which is vast) is revealed, we come to understand and empathize and root for him.

Kate has come to work for the Bobbies, and she's assigned to improve Walker's public persona. Walker is reticent and prefers to do his good deeds unnoticed and with no fanfare. Unfortunately, the big business of sport is all about perception, and Kate needs to improve the public perception of Walker. The growth of trust between these two, Kate's dogged determination to get a smile out of Walker, and Walker's admiration for the goodness inside Kate keep you turning pages and devouring this book. Then Meghan brings us to the heartbreak portion of the book. Heck, I was upset with the characters, but I knew why they were doing what they were doing (no spoilers here). Still, it hurt the heart to go through their heartache with them. And then Meghan took a minor storyline and wove that bad boy into the main storyline, and now I need another book because that story will be one heck of a redemption story. But I digress; Walker and Kate's story is one of the BEST I've read this year. Meghan crafted a beautiful love story and a story of forgiveness and moving on, which is not always easy to do.
