Meh

You could have taken out 50-60 percent of this book without hindering the story line at all.

Maybe it’s my “old age” but I found the constant “I want you but we can’t” bull shhh that went on for far too long to just be annoying.

I’m annoyed even just thinking about it while trying to write this review- it just felt so childish to me. Definitely not a fan of this one

Ok so on an overall basis I liked this story. I liked the main characters as well as Riot and Vivian as side characters/friends of the two main characters.

I freaking LOVE the narrator team. Jason Clarke has truly become a master of all trades narrator. This was my first time listening to a Vanessa Edwin performance and I am in love lol

Now for the dislike portion of this review: I didn’t like that the author kept harping on/bringing up the huge no frat policy but instead of having these adult characters go to the powers that be before they broke any rules to see about an exception and had them break the rules and then break their hearts.

I saw a clear way around it and instead she just kept towing that line.

I know I know —DRAMA! But it just seemed pointless when there was the drama with her college best friend turning out to be someone Walker had trouble with. It just seemed unnecessary.

This book was narrated by Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin both of whom I will follow the ends of the earth book wise lol

I am enjoying this series tremendously, each character stands apart from the one before. Each story is unique to them.

I loved Walker from the get go, I like that he may lose his temper but it had a reason no one ever cared to ask. The Water cooler I gotta say genius the whole thing, the apology loved that scene.
Kate and Walker I didn’t see coming if I am honest it took me a while to warm up to it but once I did I got it. Just sucked they had to deny it for so long. And even when they did give in they really couldn’t continue. Knowing and doing the right is easier said than done but I had mad respect for Walker he really does step up.
He might not have done it gracefully but he didn’t want to cause more hurt or suffering on both sides.

Penn and Walker, we go on a crazy ride but in the end I like how it ended up. I hope we see Penn again; I want more of that backstory I don’t think we got enough of it.

The narrators were fantastic two of my very favorites they just give life to these characters and I am here for it.

Walker is the catcher of the Chicago Bobbies and has an image problem with the public and Kate is the PR manager that works with him to clean up his act. Kate doesn’t take take any of Walker’s grumpiness and is able to get through to him and break down his walls. Their friendship and attraction grow thought out the story but they can’t be together due to the team having a no fraternization rule. Walker and Kate’s story was sexy, emotional and I loved the build up between them. I could not get enough of this story, Meghan did a great job of making me fall in love with these characters. Vanessa Edwin and Jason Clarke did an incredible job with bring Kate and Walker to life, they captured their emotions perfectly.

This book was amazing! I was so excited to read Walker’s story and as always with Meghan’s books I totally loved it. Walker is wonderful, he was called the most hated man in baseball but on the inside he was sweet and attentive. Through the years he lost his love for baseball and he did it only as a job, so in order to clean his image he had to work with Kate, which I loved too because she never let Walker treat her badly and she always told him the things as they were. After some time working together they start to form an amazing friendship and something more but thanks to the no fraternization policy they could only be friends.

Walker used to be angry all the time so I loved how thanks to Kate he little by little started enjoying life and his job again. I really enjoyed their interactions, at first Walker just went straight to the point but Kate never gave up on him and she always tried to help him. Then when they started being friends I loved their interactions and their slow-burn. They had a lot of chemistry and they were attracted to the other but none of them wanted to loose their jobs so they fought really hard to hide their feelings.

I just wanted Walker and Kate to be together so I loved when they both gave in to what they felt and damn it was really hot, they had a lot of pent-up energy so they couldn’t keep their hands off each other.

Throughout the book it was hard for them to be able to have a relationship but at the end it all worked out and they finally had a well deserved HEA.

Walker has never had a problem with being the bad boy on the squeaky clean Bobbies baseball team. He isn’t interested in changing his image but when the team begins to consider trading their problem child, Walker has no choice but to Shape up or ship out.

Kate is the PR manager assigned to help him. He’s beyond reluctant to accept her help but slowly Kate wears down his defenses and finds there’s a lot more to Walker then what he wants the baseball world to believe. As they grow closer and closer they find themselves unable stop themselves from crossing the line of professional boundaries. The Bobbies have a strict no fraternizing between players and staff. The consequences for breaking this rule? Termination for the staff and a one way ticket to trade town for the player. With neither willing to compromise their career for the other they know this cannot last for more than 1 perfect day.

When the clock runs out can a find a way to keep their careers and stay together? If not can they stand the strain of working together while not actually being together?

I loved Walker and Kate and I couldn’t help but root for these opposites. Meghan Quinn is the undisputed queen of slow burn and this is a sizzle of a slow burn. I also really enjoyed the antagonistic relationship between Penn and Walker especially as we learned more of their backstory from both perspectives. Meghan definitely caught me off guard with a twist near the end that I didn’t see coming but I loved how it added to the story.

I’m sad to leave The Towel Brigade behind but this feels like a great conclusion to the series.
