Walker was the standoffish guy, but yeah, he had reason for it as we learned in this story. But he was really rude at times, and if I was Kate, I don’t know that my physical attraction to him would have won out. But it was good that the two of them let it sizzle and build up, because when they did get together, it was HOT! Just like Kate and her friend had thought it might be. Even with the personality that made you not like him from just that, Walker was a really good guy. As I read, I wanted more about his story with his rival, and once we got those actual more specific details, it made a lot of sense. There was even a twist with his rival towards the end that totally caught me by surprise.

I did get a bit of time to spend with my still favorite Brentwood boy, Jason, but not as much as I’d like. And there are now a few more characters that I’m wondering about them, and if they’ll get their own HEAs. I liked the way their complicated situation was resolved in the end, and I love how Quinn can pull in characters from other stories/series and it makes me happy to see them again.

LOOOOOOVE THIS BOOK! The storyline, the characters, the romance! Ahhh! Definitely one I’m going to be rereading! An enemies to lovers and also forbidden romance between a professional hockey player and an employee of the hockey’s PR team. This is definitely a slow burn romance but the BEST kind! The desire, the tension and the pull between them was intense and so so captivating! I’m not a fan of slow burns typically but the way this story was written, the build up is so incredibly satisfying!

Audible: LOVE the performance of this narration! Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin were the perfect castings! Jason’s voice portrayed Walker’s tough exterior so well and Vanessa‘s fit Kate’s personality exactly how I envisioned! Definitely a performance that is an easy listen again and again!

This was my second Meghan Quinn and it was another hit for me. I think I’ll happily read anything by her now.

The tension in this one was.. ooof. SO GOOD. It drove me crazy - in the best ways lmao.

This was a classic forbidden workplace romance, grumpy/sunshine trope and all of it was done so well.

I loved the progression of Walker and Kate’s relationship. Especially all of the ways that Kate tried to get Walker to open up and just remember how to have fun again.

THE SOCKS. I just about died at that part. My heart.

Walker was honestly so sweet and his story made me hurt for him. I’m glad we got his POV because I loved being able to understand why he was the way he was. It was everything to see how little by little, Kate cracked away at that ice cold exterior. Him being open and sweet just for her was ugh. The best.

Kate was a great female main character. I think my favorite thing about her was how she was assertive and didn’t let anyone steamroll her, including Walker. She was incredibly compassionate and willing to help others better themselves. I loved her so much.

Also, I wasn’t sure why Dan was in the story but I was pleasantly surprised with where it went and loved the outcome of that.

The more I think about it, the more I want to give this 5 stars. I think I gave it 4 for the classic miscommunication trope that I just really hate. Even though it was so minor lol I may change it.
