Sad, but sweet book. As expected a good portion of the book is about the friendship and love between Robyn and Whitney. But it is much more. How they cared about each other, how their feelings for each other enabled detrimental patterns.

It also shows us what love looks like at different times of our lives. Robyn’s growth was directly linked to who she is as a person but also how she was impacted by her attachement to her mother. I loved how she spoke of her mom and how her mom loved her and allowed her to find her way.

It also shows us that no matter how much you try and fight, you cannot save anyone but yourself, and even then, it’s extremely difficult.

Beautiful book, vulnerable, soft and insightful.

Poor Whitney.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book after seeing the Whitney movie in the theater. Crawford’s writing style was easy to read. I’d like to point out that this account of Whitney’s ups and downs aligns nicely to events in the movie. After reading this book, I’m humbled by Robyn’s heart felt account of her relationship with Whitney. This isn’t a tabloid read, but a sensitive, carefully put together story of what once was a beautiful friendship turned volatile due to drugs and Whitney’s greedy family. I’m happy Crawford got the healing she needed. This is a must read for any Whitney fan.

Interesting enough little memoir, though it’s fairly slight. Good look at 80’s queer life, if somewhat briefly looked at.

I was on the fence about reading Robyn's story after just reading a short sample, I wanted to wait for the reviews to start coming up. When they did they were all favorable. She gave us an inside view of the struggle Whitney faced. Her family story was interesting as well. Glad that she found her way

I like the honest tone of this book. I particularly like her honesty about her drug use with Whitney. But this book is limited by the writer’s status as an outsider with occasional peripheral access to the main character. She was an assistant, not a decision-maker.

My heart breaks for Robyn. This was such a beautiful story about friendship, love, drugs and loyalty. She speaks of Whitney so eloquently. Whitney had so many people around her that failed her, but Robyn did her best. Great story, glad to finally get speak her story.

Cler picture of Robyn and Whitney's relationship from the source herself. Lots of questions were answered.

This book reads like a labor of love, and I think Robyn Crawford is one of the few people who have any right to be telling Whitney’s story. Most of the people around her were exploiting, using, and enabling her and it’s so heartbreaking. Robin seems like a true friend. Fuck Bobby Brown.

Also, what was Silvia’s kid doing the whole time Silvia was traveling and living with Whitney as her personal assistant? I want to read Silvia’s story.
