It was a combo of Demon Copperhead-like vibes (though not as good) and a second chance romance. Cute

wow wow wow i loved this book SO much. first of all the way this was written had me hooked! it was like i was reading the book faster because i wanted Em to finish the book faster lmao

and then the last like 20 pages i was SOBBING.

“come let me love you” GOODBYE I AM IN SHAMBLES. five stars. five stars. five stars.

Renee Carlino is slowly becoming my favorite author. I loved the book within the book. Definitely a book I will recommend to my friends.

Well I waited 2 months for this book in the library and I can see why the wait was so long. This book I simply devoured. A story about a woman with an awful childhood (a touch similar to Hopeless by Colleen Hoover, Dusty, and All the Ugly and Wonderful Things) whose childhood love/best friend writes a novel about her childhood with him. This is a story about finding oneself and being at peace with one's demons. The reason I didn't give it five stars was that the ending was slightly cookie cutter for me, not horribly so, but definitely a touch. Overall, a great summer read.

This is not the type of book I read but I was returning it to the library for a friend, got stuck at a long traffic light and read the first couple paragraphs and my interest was peaked. I went home and went on to read 3/4 of the book in one (lazy) day and ended up really enjoying it!
It wasn't sappy (though I did shed one tear) or melodramatic and the characters were well-developed and rational.

An addictive read, I read from 12% til the end in one day, but I felt let down by the ending. I don’t know what I was expecting but I was disappointed. Maybe because it all ended so quickly. I also feel like the whole
Trevor rehab thing was unnecessary, like girl could’ve just dumped him they obviously weren’t good together before Jase and the book even came into it so why have this whole super quick pill addiction tangent just to be over in a blink of an eye and then to break up amicably? He wasn’t an important enough character to need this arc, he was super unlikeable, even before Jase, so why would we want him to stay in Em’s life?
Just seemed like a whole unnecessary addition and I would rather that time spent on Em and Jase finally reuniting. I thought this might’ve been a five star, but the ending really didn’t give me what I was hoping for. But still a beautifully written, immersive story. Although
when we got up to a book within book within a book within this book I was kinda pissed for some reason
