Swear On This Life

Renée Carlino

3.92 AVERAGE

I enjoyed this book and reading about Emi and Jade’s story, but it wasn’t my favorite Renee Carlino.

Hands down a 4.5 star book! This was such a unique and quick read, I loved it.

I seriously read this in a few hours and was able to connect with the characters unlike I could in a different novel. I loved how the story was carried out within a story. I've never read anything like it and it kept my interest from start to finish.

The characters and story were executed beautifully to the reader. Your own emotions will get to you at times while reading this.

I loved Before We Were Strangers, but I think Swear On This Life has became my favorite Renee Carlino novel.

It was so raw and real you almost felt like you were within these characters.

I'm not going to say much about the Novel other than for you to go get a copy or ebook, whichever you prefer...then sit down one evening and read this. Let me say, that the only reason why I didn't give it a full 5 stars was because it almost felt like a Young Adult book to me. That's it. That was the only reason. It of course isn't a YA novel, but it didn't have too much romance or drama going on with it that set it apart too much.

No biggie though because the story was fantastic and so unique. I would recommend this to someone who is just getting out of the YA phase and into more adult books. It was a great transitional book for a reader.

I. LOVED. THIS.

I loved the alternating timelines telling the story of Emiline and Jase’s childhood and all the horrible things they went through together, and then back to the present.

I hated Emiline’s 7 year boyfriend from the beginning to the end, and I think the way she got rid of him when he was in rehab was a cop out.

I loved how confident and smug Jase was as soon as he was back in Emiline’s life after that book signing reunion. I loved how he just KNEW he was waiting for her to realize it.

I would have loved more of their life together than just a short epilogue (with a pregnancy, barf), but the point of the story is the build up. The anticipation of will they, won’t they? How will he win her back? What has he done with this book to make the ultimate romantic declaration? His book was their entire childhood and then he wrote out an alternate ending… including alternate Emiline finding alternate Jase’s book in a thrift shop, and the book within the book has a HAPPY ending! Hahahaha. So meta. I loved it. A second chance romance that totally had me hooked.

hard to keep track of but definitely engaging and a very interesting idea

2 - no emotion for me, I was not the fan of any of the characters (maybe Cara), too rushed at the end (everything somehow got fixed by itself) ... and like everybody here - why she was reading the book fro the months ?!?! It had the potential but unfortunately in the end it was for me really dissapointing

2.5 stars

This was an enjoyable story of almost lost life-long love. I'd recommend it as a good summer read.

This really is a beautiful story.

Could. Not. Put. It. Down.

This book was far too predictable. I found the frequent flashback sequences kind of embarrassing to read due to their juvenile wording and I actually skipped most of the flashbacks until the end of the book when I thought they were probably important. I would read this author again if I had the chance but I probably wouldn’t read this book ever again.
