One of the firsts of the sci-fi horror genre, and a short one at that. It’s thought-provoking, terrifying, and sadly, grossly sexist…The descriptions, while I understand why they are there, paint a very misogynistic picture of the ONLY female character. I think just in general, Harlan Ellison is NOT good at writing female characters accurately or appropriately. It’s a shame because really the concept is amazing! This story would definitely be a 5/5 if at some parts I did not like my gender was being violated. Definitely a story that I want come back and revisit but in different lense.

definitywnie najbardziej mizoginistyczna książka, jaką kiedykolwiek czytałam. jestem w stanie na wiele rzeczy przymrużyć oko przy tych starszych książkach pisanych przez facetów, ale tutaj nie wytrzymałam i przerwałam czytanie krótko po skończeniu tytułowego opowiadania. które swoją drogą miało ciekawy koncept, ale sposób pisania autora i rozwinięcie tego pomysłu były na tyle średnie, że nie widziałam sensu męczenia się z kolejnymi opowiadaniami.
tl;dr: sraka i kolejne rozczarowanie mężczyznami
