I DNF'd this book at the 80% mark. I know I should finish it but I can not continue. I am not a fan of the main character Avery. I understand why she is pushing him away at the beginning but when he found her scars, I did not like her reaction. I have never been through the situation that she had gone through so I can't speak from experience and I can't judge Avery for her reaction. This whole premise just was not for me.

I do not like books where the main character is keeping something from her love interest until the very last portion of the book. It makes me anxious when I read the book and for this book I wasn't anxious but slightly annoyed that she let it go on for that long. I can understand why but it felt kinda unnecessary for it to go on until the end.

I also wan not a big fan of Cameron, he felt really arrogant and kinda pushy to me. She denied to go on a date with him multiple times but he still kept on pushing, saying that he'll 'wear her down'. In my opinion that is not romantic. Even if she does want you, if she says no respect her decision and then move on.

All in all I gave this book 2 stars ✨. It was not my style at all.

I really liked this book, though the ending was a bit meh and ruined it a little. Bumping it from 4 to 3 stars.

Wow, this book was hot. And also heart-breaking sometimes.

I love that it was an authentic story that wasn't just about the romance but also broached more difficult topics which just added to the sincerity of Avery's and Cam's love story. For me, it was an emotional rollercoaster. I was happy, sad, shocked, amused.. I couldn't put this book down.

Not my favorite book by J. Lynn. I like her fantasy romance much much more. I think this is a 3.5 star book. I love Jennifer's story telling ability and this dealt with some really serious issues, but it was just really sappy and trite sometimes and I wish it wasn't so predictable! I'll go back to my fantasy books lol

this was a fun time - nothing more and nothing less. because i did enjoy reading it and a handful of moments were very heartfelt, i just might continue on with this series. when that’ll be idk. i do know that i didn’t like the writing and multiple parts of the storytelling. however, seeing as i went into this book just looking for some lighthearted entertainment, i was able to appreciate it for what it was
