⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Stars
Ex in the City by Portia Macintosh is a second chance, Best friends to Lovers, Rockstar romance with an interesting storyline and characters.
So the good parts... I loved the MCs. Nicole is definitely my favourite FMC out of everything I read recently. Dylan too was perfect in a weird way. Then the kids, their characters are so sweet! Macintosh blended both the rockstar - paparazzi life so effortlessly, it came out very well. The whole suburban part gave me some serious Desperate housewives vibes! (Which is actually a good thing!) Her detailing in every aspect was on point!
Now for the not so good parts, the only thing that irked me was the narrative. I do love the fact that it first POV. But there wasn't something about it that wasn't giving it to me! But other than that, I don't think I disliked anything about the book.
A solid 4/5 stars. This was my very first Portia Macintosh book and I enjoyed it very well!

And if you like these tropes,
I've enjoyed other Portia MacIntosh books but this one was a bit too saccharine and neatly tied up for me. Good if you're a fan of Lindsey Kelk and not a bad read, just too many neat little bows at the end. We like a messy story in this house.
This was really cute and I liked the characters a lot. The audible narration was good, too.
Nicole Wild used to be fun. She traveled on tour buses, partied in hotels, and had the best friends, but here she is ten years later, living the suburban mom life. Her relationship is over but she's still living in the house with her ex and his kids, who are the coolest, but she's ready to restart her own life without PTA meetings and school pick-ups. She's going to focus on her business... But she never expected her old friend, rockstar heart throb Dylan King, to be her next client.
I listened to the audiobook free on Spotify. A lot of Portia's book are available there and they're all cute, clean reads. I love listening to these at work when I can just mindlessly file things while listening. Portia's books tend to feel like two books a lot and this is no different: the reconnection with the old friend being one and then them trying a relationship as the second. Dylan seemed adorable with his excited reactions to the things we usually think of as boring.
Tropes: Rockstar Romance, Second Chance Romance

Probably more of a 3.5 stars. Got this for free from prime and it was perfect for what I was looking for - quick, easy and fun. I liked the two main characters but I wanted there to be more depth with them and with some of the other characters, felt like a bit was left out/not resolved.
Thank you to Netgalley, Portia Macintosh, and Boldwood Books for this ARC. I will be giving my honest review.
3.5⭐
Nicole lives in a small town with her recent ex and his children. She find a box of her past things and starts to miss the person she used to be along with the lifestyle she used to have. After being unhappy with her new life, her estranged best friend shows up at her door asking for help. The story follows her reunion with her best friend and their friendship turns into chemistry.
I enjoyed the overall story with Nicole and Dylan. The characters had chemistry from the moment they saw each other again. The dialogue was easy to follow. But I felt like some of the details were over-explained. The way that the rockstar lifestyle was explained got a bit repetitive at times. I thoroughly enjoyed the positive energy this novel had. The ending was full of useful advice that I appreciated. The message about people being able to change was present throughout.
