I only read this book to fill in some holes left behind when I read the first Hardy Billionaire Brother book. It made little sense to me why the FMC in this book was so insane in the other one. Plus, the Armanelli’s whole backstory is not well explained in either book. I hoped when I read this book that I would get more answers but nope! Instead I have more questions.
Dear author, if you don’t add enough details in your book when someone like a mobster also runs businesses for some random family and the Pentagon but is also somehow allied with governments around the world, then it comes off as uncanny valley and contrived- not well thought out. You can try to tell me it’s because of the interconnected series but if it’s not written into the same series then it needs to be able to stand on its own two feet. Plus this little detail is so far fetched it will eject you right out of the story.
This book was never enemies to lovers and shouldn’t have been labeled as such. Hate fucking sure, but enemies to lovers implies actual resolution in a relationship (not toxic love) and also displays a lot of tension before they give in to each other.
A man (derogatory) had to have written this book because the way some of the sex scenes were written genuinely confused me with the implausibility. And irl, that girl would be dead because of a bedfellow who didn’t even have the decency to establish a safe word with her before he started choking her.
Here’s a bad transition to my next point. The book was just written poorly in some moments with transitions that made you so confused you weren’t sure what was happening. I genuinely struggled to follow along with the story for the majority of the story.
All that said, there was some substance in there about addiction and grief, but that is one of the only reasons this book gets stars. (Plus I’m broken myself and I like toxic men and he did fully embrace the FMC.)
