This story, this relationship, is absolute controlled chaos. It is filled with the push-pull of dominance/brat/submission. And it is delicious! A good portion of this book looks at Izzy and her struggle with sobriety. Izzy has been sober for 9 years but is still afraid of her past, of giving up any control for fear that it might lead her backwards in her sobriety. Shain Rose hits this huge mental health issue out of the park in her description of Izzy’s struggle. I absolutely love how multi-dimensional her characters are. There are depths to their depths. That sometimes the biggest adversary is the mind. Cade has to be hottest of hot men I’ve ever read. I told my husband that he now has competition from a fictional man! Cade is a controlling, dominant, alpha protector who loves to see Izzy release her control. He wants her to be able to see her own strength and allow herself to be herself. Their story is tumultuous, beautiful, and I absolutely loved it!

This book was brutal. When I read about the groveling in the blurb, I knew I had to read it. Case is an absolute asshole and I wanted to kill him so many times. I don't know why I still kept reading. Izzy is strong but Cade brings out the worst in her. I wanted her to make him suffer which didn't happen as I wanted. I know I've already said it but he's such an asshole and the groveling wasn't even good. But the smut was hot. And the Rodney scene even more. I read according to my mood and I'm in kind of a reading slump so I didn't appreciate this book as much I could have if I was really in the mood. It was definitely toxic and had so much angst and emotions. But I still read it and liked it a bit so.
1.5 stars at max.
Typical rich mafia/CEO type of romance with no plot. Honestly, I was excited to read this because it had a 4.11 rating when I found it. I thought it would be good but no. Cade is a PASS for me. His possessiveness and 'growling' is not attractive. Him hacking into her devices is not normal. The nickname "dollface" and "Harley Quinn" made me cringe like why would somebody call their gf Harley Quinn???? It felt so slow-paced and it was annoying how both the characters were so stubborn.
Also if you're going to write a story with characters working in the IT sector then please do some research and don't go overboard. Both the characters are hacking devices 24/7 like the other developers have no skill whatsoever.
