Weaker than the previous ones. And some of the translations felt like they were done by a high-schooler.

The rivalry between father & son "heats up" in this volume and can get a little bit in the way of the story itself. However, these are still great manga and food writing....

Didn't hold my interest as much as the other books, I think because I expected there to be more about ramen but it was more about the noodles other ramen-related dishes. It really should have been called "dishes adapted from chinese dishes" but I suppose that's a little unwieldy. Some interesting racial politics in the last "chapter".

🍜 Talks about more of the uncommon ramen dishes.
🍜 Offers insight into how Japan adapted the original Chinese dishes for Japanese palettes & food culture to become inherent part of Japanese identity.
🍜 Uses interesting plot devices to showcase different cooking methods for gyōza.
🍜 Has backstory of gyōza & many different variations of the dish.
🍜 Uses the two food types to mention history between postwar Japan & China relations.
🍜 4.25 noodles outta 5!
