A remarkably and delightfully thrilling conclusion to Katherine Arden's Small Spaces series as the group of friends find themselves playing a final game against the smiling man in a desperate bid to finally get free. Sincere and terrifying in equal measure, Arden has delivered a wild ride of a series where there very likely is something lurking underneath the bed.

Clowns, life-like dolls and darkness - these words characterize the 4th and final book the best. The book was scary because all those things are already creepy in regular situations but add a supernatural element to the mix and you get a very spooky story perfect for Halloween.

"Play if you dare."
It was spring in East Evansburg when Ollie went missing on a summer trip to save her dad's life. 3 months later, her friends get the chance to save her, when the smiling man's circus comes to town. Coco, Brain, and Phil will do whatever it takes to get their friend back.
I really did enjoy this book, and it would have probably been the best in the series if it hadn't have ended so abruptly. It didn't have much of a falling action and resolution. But, the book had a great plot and great imagery.
4/5 stars
