Not great, not bad just kind of there. Follow a family for a year through day to day things and watch their drama unfold. Really no like-able characters or development of them (mostly surface level) or much of a plot and toward the end it was a lot of … wow this is predictable. Skip this one.

Fun novel about a Mexican-Amerian family set in 2016 Los Angeles (election, drought, wildfires).
This is a story that follows a family of three grown sisters and their parents and children for a year. I liked that each chapter was a month, it was a fun twist. I will admit that three or four chapters in I was thinking, this is a little ridiculous, this much stuff can't not happen to one family in such a short time. Then I remembered all that has happened in my own family in just the last year and realized if we all sat and wrote down it would probably be the same amount of crazy.
I really liked this one from @la_weather_novel. Complex family saga about what we expect from ourselves and others in our family. We often hold others to standards that we don’t hold ourselves to. Secrets uncovered, old hurts revisited, but all with an ultimately redemptive message that reminds us to give grace to ourselves and others. #netgalley #laweather #bookreview #bookstagram

I have to DNF this -- I just couldn't connect with the characters or the narrative.
