Oh my gosh Brittainy you had my emotions all over the place. I was so heartbroken over Gabby and then Ryan. Oh my gosh poor Ryan. I was so worried how this would end and I gotta say the ending was beyond perfect. To say I loved this story would be putting it lightly.

My first thoughts on Loving Mr. Daniels was, "I loved this book the first time I read it - when it was called Slammed and Colleen Hoover wrote it!"
But I kept with it and I am glad I did because Loving Mr. Daniels - while similar, I must admit - is a completely different book and I really glad I gave it a chance.
OK, so let's get the similarities out of the way. Both books involve girls who are grieving, who have moved to a new city only to meet a devastatingly handsome stranger with whom they share one magical, perfect night only to find out the next week that said hottie is actually their English/Poetry teacher.
*sigh*
OK, they're really similar….. so why am I not tearing apart Cherry's novel as a rip off???
Well, I loved her characters. Though they may have been put into similar situations as Hoover's characters, they react to them differently. (And Daniel Daniels - yeah, that's his name - is totally book boyfriend-worthy!)
Of course, Ashlynn would fall for Mr. Daniels - I did! I think most girls would - he's hot, he's smart, he quotes Shakespeare and he has a band. I mean, come on. The chemistry between the two is perfection. I like that Ashlynn, while full of the required angst, does not spend the entire novel doubting Daniel's feelings for her. It's refreshing to see the heroine of one of these teacher/student storylines dealing with something a little deeper than "will we get caught?"
So, what stopped me from giving a full five stars? Well, let's be honest. It's cheesy at times. Though it's the kind of cheese that makes you smile, makes you sigh, and makes you wish that men in reality were that romantic. And, yeah…. It's eerily similar to another book that I desperately loved. (Did I mention both stories involve the girls getting notes from a lost loved one to give them sage advice and remember to live life to the fullest? Geez! Writing this review wants me to lower my star rating!)
But, no! The truth is I enjoyed this one. And I loved Slammed. I don't know if I could pick between them. It's like, one is Chris Evans and one is Chris Pratt. Yeah. They're similar. People get them confused. But they're both awesome. Can't we just enjoy both? Let's enjoy both!

Sometimes you just need a book which will make you laugh and cry and feel every single emotion which exists in this world. It will do so no matter if it's perfect because this book isn't perfect at all - but it made me feel so many things that I thought I can't bear it anymore. No, this is not a story which could happen in real life. Yes, it's not a little but sometimes too much exaggerated. Still... I loved it. I loved it from the very first page till the very last. And despite the fact that as a whole this book doesn't represent something real.... it's parts did. And I liked it. Loved it, actually. There are days in one's life when he/she needs to read a story similar to this ne. And I needed it a lot and I enjoyed every single word. Thank you, Mrs. Cherry - for making me smile and read more from you.
Obwohl ich bereits zwei Bücher der Autorin kenne und diese mir gut gefallen hatten, war ich ein bisschen skeptisch, ob "Verliebt in Mr. Daniels" mir zusagen würde. Dies liegt daran, dass es um die Liebe einer Schülerin zu ihrem Lehrer geht und es schwer sein kann, dieses Thema angemessen und feinfühlig darzustellen. Letztlich hat das Buch mich aber von Anfang an so gefesselt und berührt, dass diese Sorgen schnell vergessen waren.
"Verliebt in Mr. Daniels" erzählt eine Liebesgeschichte, aber es geht um so viel mehr. Im Mittelpunkt der Handlung steht die allumfassende Trauer, die beide Protagonisten empfinden und die ihr komplettes Leben in verschiedener Hinsicht beeinflusst. Die Autorin zeigt die verschiedenen Facetten dieser Trauer sehr gut und es wird eindringlich dargestellt, wie sehr die Verluste Daniel und Ashlyn geprägt haben. Es gab mehrere Passagen, die mich zu Tränen gerührt haben und die Gefühle der Charaktere wirkten beinahe greifbar und sehr echt. Dadurch ist es sehr leicht, sich in die Figuren hineinzuversetzen und mit ihnen zu fühlen. Zugleich zeigt Cherry aber auch, dass Ashlyn und Daniel die Emotionen des jeweils anderen verstehen und dass sie einander trotz aller Umstände Nähe und sogar Trost spenden können, was ein Aspekt ist, der ihre sich entwickelnde enge Bindung zeigt.
Auch darüber hinausgehend haben die beiden einige Gemeinsamkeiten (insbesondere ihre Liebe zu Shakespeare) und es wird deutlich, dass sie sich gut verstehen, sich vertrauen und über fast alles miteinander reden können. Man spürt als Leser beinahe, wie sehr sie sich zueinander hingezogen fühlen und wie schwer es ihnen fällt, dass sie in der Öffentlichkeit nicht zeigen können, wie wichtig der jeweils andere ihnen geworden ist. Der innere Konflikt wurde gut herausgearbeitet, auch wenn er teilweise fast schon im Hintergrund stand, da die Gefühle der beiden allumfassend waren und sie sich nicht vorstellen konnten, sich vollständig voneinander fern zu halten. Das wurde schön beschrieben und diese großen Emotionen wirkten auf mich trotz der recht kurzen Zeit, die sie sich kannten, glaubwürdig. Dazu hat beigetragen, dass es Kapitel aus der Sichtweise beider Protagonisten gab.
"Verliebt in Mr. Daniels" kann in vielerlei Hinsicht als Achterbahnfahrt der Gefühle bezeichnet werden, sowohl für den Leser als auch für die Figuren. Ashlyn, Daniel und auch den Nebencharakteren wird viel zugemutet, doch es gab auch schöne, gefühlvolle Momente und die Balance war meiner Meinung nach gelungen. Die Geschichte ist auf jeden Fall sehr emotional und gerade weil sie mich so mitgenommen hat, habe ich 4,5 Sterne vergeben, obwohl es ein paar Entwicklungen gibt, die mich nicht hundertprozentig überzeugen konnten. Die Erzählung war teilweise etwas kitschig und stellenweise vielleicht zu dramatisch, das Ende war ein bisschen zu glatt und ich hätte gerne einen größeren Fokus auf gewissen Aspekten gehabt, doch letztlich sind das im Vergleich alles Kleinigkeiten, die meinen Lesespaß nicht getrübt haben.

This book started good. I can believe that her sister died from leukemia. I can believe that his mom was murdered and his dad died from health problems. I can even believe that his ex girlfriend died in a car accident caused by is little brother. But I cannot fucking believe Ryan suicide. It’s not believable at all.
This book tried to be deep but failed miserably. Just because there’s tragedy in a story and makes the readers crie doesn’t make the book good.
All the people giving 5 starts are either delusional or sensible babies blinded by their tears.

Well... I desperately needed a banger of a book and this baby delivered. I have NO IDEA why it took me so long to read this, I am kicking myself. Inhaled this story in a day and I'm only mad I read it so fast as I want more.

I usually read exclusively Fantay/Romantasy, but The Legends of Thezmarr (FYI one of my most favourite series of all time!) had put me into a book hangover, so I needed something completely different.
I must say, I was hooked from the start. I felt for Ashlyn and Daniel so much. Both broken but perfect together. Their constant support of each other, through the most awful times, touched my heart deeply.
This book made me FEEL. Here I am ten minutes after finishing it, still bawling my eyes out. It was heartbreaking and beautiful and I will read it again and again
