thank you to netgalley for providing me with an arc!

this was such a fun book to read. i loved being immersed back in janloon and getting to hear the story from a brand new character's pov was really refreshing and insightful. even though it was so short, the story completely gripped me and i loved seeing little cameos from characters we know from the rest of gbs.

I love this universe and I loved reading this different perspective. Really enjoyed this novella a lot!

I could keep reading these short stories in the Green Bone universe forever. It was an unusual angle to write this particular story, but it absolutely works and I loved it. Totally adds to the world and doesn’t detract in the slightest.

I live in Germany and I thought I would never get my hands on this story omg.
I am so happy that I have now found a way!
(And the audiobook is beautifully done and very easy to understand even for non-native speakers).

Also, to experience a story where certain characters are still alive (and younger) and NOT dying is wonderful and comforting xD <3

It was great to be thrown into a setting that didn't have a high-ranking Green Bone as the main character for once. I really enjoyed it, and it really showed the hierarchy in Janloon once again - love for that!

Pulo didn't grow on me, but maybe he doesn't have to; after all, I enjoyed the story so much anyway. Great writing as always and super thrilling, hurr.

It was a pleasure to go back to Kekon and read about jade again. Absolutely loved it. Wish it was longer!

A thrilling addition to the world of the Green Bone Saga, and a must-have for fans of the original trilogy.

even in a novella fonda lee does world building and characterization so well and so goddamn effectively. my only complaint would be that the ending feels slightly rushed, but even then each character arc is finished perfectly. she's a master at tying each and every loose string and i cannot wait for jade shards to be released bc i am very much missing lan rn and what i got of him from this was too short

4.5!! It was short of course but I really did miss the world of Janloon and being able to read about the two clans again and jades and whatnot was very fun. This book was 0.5 stars away from getting 5 if only they gave us more Kaul Lanshinwan like COME ON NOW!!!!!
