I absolutely loved The Green Bone Saga, so I knew that I would enjoy being back in Janloon regardless but I didn’t expect this novella to be so good. In less than 150 pages Fonda Lee told an interesting story full of action, made me feel attached to brand new complex characters, and even made me cry. And I was so happy to see Hilo and Lan, I had the biggest smile on my face, I love them both so much.

Not a bad mini-story about our friends in Janloon, but I think because it was short, I really missed the world building and intertwining of fates that I've come to love in the other Jade books. I would gladly read a bunch more of these, though, to keep punching our world further and further out!
