This was everything you could want from a penultimate book in a series. Lots of action, lots of answers and a few key things left for the final book to solve.

I like that the fighting has realistic consequences; not everyone makes it out alive. Although the main characters are beginning to push their luck as they've survived in some ridiculous circumstances. It'll be interesting to see who makes it through the final book.

As I'd already guessed the reveal at the end of the last book I was really shocked and happy with the big reveal in the middle of this one. It took this series in a bit of a new direction which was cool.

It's great to see how everything is coming together and I can't wait to read the next book.

Continuing on. I'm glad that all five books in this series are already out. No wait on these at my library either. Went on to book 4 straight after finishing up book 3. It picks up right where the last one left off. Is Garrett dead? We didn't really think he was, did we? Can't kill of a main character and love interest ...

A little more of the underlying deception and such is revealed here ...
Spoiler Ember was created as a clone, to be the "body" for the Elder worm (I'm listening, how is it spelled? It's pronounced WORM which always seems odd to me). But she gets saved before her memory is erased and her body taken over.
Ah ... it's Wyrm. But that is a "dragon" with no arms. Don't Ember and Riley have both arms and legs when in dragon form?

All the books are running together a bit for me.

The setting in Salt Lake City and the salt flats was interesting, as I live in Utah. My stomping grounds.

Even though I have the fifth and final book on hand ... a different series I like a little better has come in at my library. So taking a small diversion to read it then I'll come back and finish up this series.
