This is a review for Mercy's End, Lacey Carter Andersen's story in this anthology. Lacey Carter Andersen's story in this collection is full of action and tension. The daughter of Beauty and the Beast, Mercy is a prickly, complicated woman who meets 3 gorgeous and different men who all inspire different feelings inside her. A great one sitting read that makes me want more!

I both love and abhor fairy tales, but fairy tale retellings? Those I can get behind in a BIG way. This collection packs a punch and runs the gamut, from the child of Beauty and The Beast, to Cinderella, The Land of Oz, to a Fairy godmother who isn't supposed to fall in love... and more. Seriously, no matter your taste or preference, there is something here, and some kind of romantic dynamic to meet it.

Nothing is as the original tales portrayed, but there are familiarities aplenty, or just a starting point - like Mercy's End, written by May Dawson, which features Mercy, the child of Beauty and The Beast. That story is a prologue of sorts for another tale coming out later, Mercy's Revenge. It sets up the events that are sure to go down in that novel, and gives foundation for the meetings that have come before. Honestly? I can't wait to see what happens between the trio of men and Mercy.... and the Assassins Guild, because, of course the land of Beauty and The Beast has an assassins guild. See why I love retellings? You can literally do ANYTHING, and make it work!

The rest of the book is much the same, twisting the narratives and creating new tales built upon the ideas of the former. Many are penned by authors I didn't recognize, like Pepper Paris or Tina Glasneck - but there were also names I was more familiar with; Emma Cole, May Dawson, Lacey Carter Anderson, just to name a few.

Overall, this is a great collection - offering something for everyone. If you don't like one of the stories, just move on to the next! And if you LOVE one? Well, following the author is easy enough. Enjoy!

A Sweet, Spacey Cinderella Revamp!

Review for Ella and the Alien Prince by Margo Bond Collins. After saving Earth from an evil horde, Prince Khai of the Khanavai requests a reward in the form of brides. His strategy is to replenish his planets' mostly male population by finding mates for his warriors, never mind himself. Ella is just one of many women tempted to fulfill his wish but as she works for one of Earth's ambassadors she just doesn't see it as an option. But when their gazes meet across a crowded ballroom fate shows it has it's own plans.
This fun story is the lead-in to Ms. Collins' new series. I enjoyed this quick read and can't wait for future encounters with the series' rainbow array of sexy aliens!

I wish it was longer. Ella ran, but this wasn’t explained and wish it was. It might help me to relate to the character better. Story was written well and had some cute references to Cinderella.

I received an ARC of Ella and the Alien Prince in exchange for a honest review, so I am going to be honest.
I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t care about the characters, there were words missing here and there and the second half of the book is basically just a sex scene. I know this a short story and there would not be too detailed descriptions, but the characters were not developed much and the world building was vague.
The “mating bond” that makes them to be drawn to each other doesn’t make sense to me. Even with the mating bond you’d expect them to get to know each other. But Ella basically sells herself to this man she just met. And of course her best friend falls for his closest friend and comes to the alien planet with her. Also, some dialogues and narrations in the book were very ‘cringy’ for me. Needless to say this was just not my cup of tea!

Review only for Tempted by the Biker by Cyndi Faria:

Dual POV, well written and mostly well edited (note: I’m reading an ARC, so hopefully the editing issues will be corrected by release)

I really enjoyed the canine lead! He made the story for me. The male and female lead were cute, if a bit angsty, but the dog stole the show.

This was a fun novella with a simple plot, which was worth reading.

It feels a little unfair to review short stories and novellas because they are so short and leave out so much a the meaty aspects that make a book engaging.

I did like the writing style and the way we got a sweet little story, but I would love to have a full story that gives us more information on everything.

I didn’t find this book to be ‘steamy’ and maybe that’s my own fault as I expected more erotica? I don’t read a lot of alien-esq stories and the one that really stuck with me was HOT.

There were a lot of errors in this story, that I’m hoping for fixed before the publicized version was finalized.

I would recommend this book to someone who really is looking for a short read to get them through, but not someone who’s really craving an intense read.

My review is for "Ella and the Alien Prince" by Margo Bond Collins

I haven't read any of the other books in the Alien Bride series and found the setup a bit rushed. "Earth under attack, surprising help from aliens, now let's go to the story..." It's a very short story, so this is only a minor complaint because in the end, everything important was mentioned. Same for the Characters. To be fair, I can't remember when I've last read a short story without knowing the characters from the main series before, so I might be picky here and expect too much of such a short story.
All that aside, I enjoyed the story and would have liked to read this in a more detailed, longer version But again, that's just me and the fact, that I did expect a full-length book. I'll definitely check the entire fairy-tale series, because I love re-tellings and now I'm prepared ;)
