A cute book! I liked the world it was set in, with all the different types of fairies and ghosts, as well as the supernatural beings from other countries.

Life is too short for some books. I was expecting fantasy with a romance element, but this is pure romance set in an urban fantasy universe. I was intrigued by the word, but the tropey language really put me off, there are only so many chiseled cheekbones one can take at a time. If you like romance this might work for you!

I love this book! Elle’s character could have been so different in the hands of another author, but I appreciated some of the decisions made for example her being older (cough ~Crescent City~cough).

I wish there was more exploration of the magic system and the world in general but hopefully that will be explored in future books.

The premise and magic system are intriguing, and honestly, I wanted a lot more of it. The family drama was exquisite, fun to read, and again, I wanted more of it. Halfway through, what had seemed to be set up as the main plot suddenly resolved itself, we never heard more about it, and then the second half seemed to be more focused on romantic fluff (which was admittedly also fun to read). I just wish that other characters and aspects of the plot had been more developed. Also, some of the big reveals didn't feel as shocking and impactful as it seemed that they were meant to be.
