I was honestly a little disappointed with this book. Maybe I had too high of hopes for it, though.

I was expecting it to be very funny, and cute, with some nice romance even if it did take a small role. It was funny, but not as much as I thought it would be. The romance was almost nonexistent, with a little bit kicked in near the end, and I was disappointed by that.

Jane was entertaining, a fun heroine to follow. I liked that she was such a fan of vampires before she turned, that she was a fangirl of it all. I also liked that her family played such a big role in the story, and they were fun, and odd.

The vampire lore part of the story was interesting, and did have a nice comedic twist, particularly their orderliness. There were some vampire fights, some difficulties between choosing a side, and that was nice.

Then there were vampire hunters, and those are always kind of fun to me. There was a tiny inkling to romance with one of them near the end, but there didn’t seem to be a lot of real chemistry between the two, more like it was just thrown in later. I would have liked more of that, particularly since the synopsis makes it seem like there is.

It also left with a rather open ending, and it seemed liked there should be a second book. I don't know if I'd want one or not, though. But I do feel like Keeble will get better, her humor will come out more naturally, her characters will get better, as she keeps writing.

Overall, this ended up being rather mediocre for me, sadly. I was really hoping to like it. I plan to give Keeble another try sometime in the future, although I’m not sure when.

Xanthe Jane Greene had always been big vampire fan, writing fan fiction on Fang-Girls.net and reading all the popular fiction about vampires out there. However, she never actually wanted to become one! Especially when becoming a vampire is not as fun as all the books she's read. Now Jane has to deal with parents who want to become vampires too to accompany her for eternity, an Elder vampire intent on killing her and her sire, a Victorian vampire guy who's trying really hard to romance her, and a ripped vampire hunter who is way too much a distraction when he's trying to stake her.

In her YA debut Helen Keeble's use of vampire lore is not only hilarious but genius! She takes the vampire myth to a whole new level of hilarity, especially their desire to clean and organize. Jane gets firsthand experience on how severe OCD can get you killed. I really loved how her whole family took in the fact that their daughter had risen from the dead. Jane's Mom is very proactive about the whole thing, and goes into research mode to help her daughter be a good vampire. Her Dad is very supportive too, cooking a lot of different meals to see what she likes. Her brother Zack is just hilarious, and takes everything in stride.
And their pet goldfish is my hero.

Jane is sure her family is quite crazy. Luckily Ebon de Sanguine comes along. He's a Victorian vampire with a suave attitude who can't quite contain his excitement around modern stuff. Though he seems very interested in helping her, and romancing her, there's just something not right about him. Then Van, the totally ripped vampire hunter, comes along! Just what Jane needed, another distraction. The two will form an unlikely alliance when Jane's family is taken hostage by the Elder vampire who's searching for her.

Fun, witty, and completely hilarious, Fang Girl had me laughing at every turn of Jane's new vampiric life. This is not just a simple satire on popular vampire conventions, but an original and fun take on old vampire lore. It's four months only five days until the release of Fang Girl, and I'm already begging for another Jane adventure!

*I won the ARC from the author*

I've read about vampires ever since I started reading and this is the book I've been waiting for. It's funny and doesn't have a clumsy, cliché romance. The main character sounds like a fifteen-year-old and not like 26.

This might actually be one of the rare books that do not have a romance. Finally.

DNF: Made it to page 52.

I didn't find it funny at all. It was just too ridiculous, obvious, and on the nose for me. Oh well.

This had been a nice light read that had me begging for more. As a fangirl myself, I was delighted by the mentions of fandom things, and Jane happens to be a very compelling character that you can't help but love and relate to. This is definitely my favorite vampire book... But that's not so much a great praise because the only other vampire book I've ever read was The Vampire Diaries and that was a total disaster...
Either way, I can't wait for the second installment of this book.

Jane is one funny teenage vampire, luckily before she was turned she was a vampire fangirl writing stories on an online fansite. When she awoke inside of a coffin she instantly knew what had happened, that and the telephone that was left in her coffin asking about her whereabouts so she could be dug up. We have the whole family in this book and oddly enough the family doesn’t have a hard time coming to terms with this vampire problem of their daughters. There is no love interest in this book which is refreshing but two boys do seem to be fighting over her attention. No spoiler in this review because I think you need to read this book, it made me chuckle a lot and Jane has one of the
best funny attitudes every.
