As interesting as any Neil Gaiman story can be.

Beautiful. Almost makes me wish that I had gone back and read in my comics somewhere in a closet. I didn't remember much of this. I didn't remember that it was really of the DC universe with Poison Ivy and Batman and Arkham Asylum and Swamp Thing. I did remember that it had dream art but I couldn't remember if I liked it. And on top of this the story itself was actually pretty good. Especially for something that kind of starts in the middle.

I re-read Black Orchid this evening. It is about 18 years since I first read it, at the age of 17 or 18. Gratifying to remember how much it influenced me. What an incredible, unexpected, tender (in many senses) tale.

Black Orchid is worth a read simply for the art.

The action is not always completely clear, but the organic/watercolory/collagey feel to it was 100% the right choice and makes for really, really beautiful pages.

The story itself is pretty basic, but still nice. I enjoyed reading it, but didn't find it as challenging and forward-thinking as the introduction made it sound like it was going to be.

I'm sure I'll read it again. It's also nice and bite-sized. :)

so beautiful

I really enjoyed this comic. The artwork was great, and the story was well written. Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite authors and this one did not disappoint.

Neil Gaiman never disappoints. His imagination has no boundaries and his words weave a story like no other. He took a super hero and made a beautiful story out of it.
