Great idea for a story, and fun to see the Patrician out and about

I feel like Terry Pratchett should be required reading. He had a talent for picking at the truth in a way that was appropriately critical and amusing all at the same time. Jingo tackles war, colonialism, racism, and other crimes against society but it does it in a way that isn't scathing or unkind. Which is how it should be. We'll never get anyone to listen if we approach them with condemnation and hatred. I think Pratchett understood that. He saw the ugliness that exists in the world and shined a light on it in a way that only he could. He was such a great writer and one I would recommend to anyone.
