it's unfinished, but Kafka, obviously.

It feels very unfair to rate and review a book that was never finished because my first complaint is... what? What was the point and where was this supposed to go? Since nobody knows, exactly, you can't get stuck on that.

So if you just take the writing and appreciate it as literature, well it wasn't all that compelling in that respect, either. I keep reading about how funny it is but clearly "humor" has another definition.

I truly found the characters intolerable on every level. Annoying characters can be done well in an ironic way but this didn't feel like that. It just felt like a bunch of people doing completely inexplicable things for no apparent reason and with no apparent result.

It had some redeeming qualities. It was well-written and some of the concepts were interesting. I guess the best I can say is that Kafka has a way with words. It's worth reading from a historical and literary standpoint but don't expect too much from something that drags you out bleeding into the middle of the street and then just leaves you there.
