I hate giving low scores, especially to authors that I love but this was just not my cup of tea. I struggled to like any of the characters, apart from the policewoman and she wasn't much cop in the end (sorry bad joke!)
I guessed at the ending by the time I was a third of the way in, and kept hoping to be proved wrong. Very disappointed.

Adele Parks is a very good mystery storyteller.

I love the premise of this book. It started a little slow for me and was a bit predictable but the characters and storyline were compelling.

The ending was like running into a brick wall. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. It just felt like a sudden shock for me. I was thinking there must be more to this story, but alas I had reached the end.

All in all this was a good book. I enjoyed the mystery and the storyline. I just didn’t come away from the book with a lingering feeling of WOW! But definitely a solid read with complex characters.

I have had this on my TBR for far too long, I bumped it up after starting ‘just between us’ without realising it was a follow up

What a good read. The way it had me wondering until nearly the end.

The ending bothered me quite a bit, it felt very open. The book was a bit slow at times and sure, the twist was fun and unexpected, but I felt nothing for any of the characters and I didnt really care what happened to any of the characters.

This book was okay, but I was ultimately kind of disappointed. It dragged on and on and on and was so repetitive for about 75% of the book. I kind of figured out one of the twists and was pretty sure about some of the stuff towards the end too. I did like the author's writing style, but again it was just so repetitive that I almost gave up the book a couple of times, but I didn't have too many other good options to read and instead so I finished it. I think I will try to read the second one in the series also.

What a messed up story! Saying more would give away most of the book. I'm giving this book 3.5 ⭐'s, rounded up, for creativity. It was a different premise but man the main character was wholly unlikeable! All of the thoughts stated by the protagonist at the end were thoughts that crossed my mind. I had predicted the ending about halfway through but was still doubtful enough to keep guessing and eagerly listening until the end.

One exciting twist about 40 % of the way through and then utterly predictable from then on in - which is actually quite impressive given how entirely unbelievable the story was!
