Woman Last Seen

Adele Parks

3.47 AVERAGE

Two women missing. They both appear to have everything and as Detective Clements begins her investigation it doesn't take her long to realize that they are connected in some way. As Clements begins interviewing the women's husbands, neither has a clue as to where their wives have gone.

Leigh Fletcher and Kai Jansen seem as different as night and day and it is up to Clements to find these women, with hopes that they are still alive. While Leigh appears to be a happy wife and stepmother, Kai is married to a wealthy businessman and lives a life of glamour. But they both disappeared at the same time. Coincidence?

Although Leigh's successful job as a consultant takes her away half a week at a time, her home life seems perfect. Kai's life also seems perfectly ideal, although caring for her ailing mother part-time regularly takes her away from her husband Daan. Both women lead part-time lives, for apparently very good reasons. Who took these women and what is the motive? What is more is whether or not Clements will find them safe and alive.

This intriguing book by Adele Parks proved to be an excellent read. As the clues were dropped pieces started connecting as perspectives changed as the story progressed. While the plot was something that will be made clear to most readers, it was quite interesting how Parks tied everything together, resulted in a surprising conclusion.

Many thanks to MIRA and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

3.5 - Although it kept my interest, it wasn't exactly the kind of detective mystery I was expecting. Initially it had really good thoughtful, talkative points I could see discussing in a book club. But then it ended in a way that seemed counterintuitive to the previous talking points.

3 1/2 stars. What an ending!

I enjoyed this book. It was definitely slow in the beginning and took a little time to get into, but I did like the book. It was also obvious to me who was responsible for the abduction pretty early on and the reason behind it. It doesn't come to light who did it or how they did it until the very end of the book, which, is left open for part 2.

Didn’t read these two books in the right order, but it wasn’t necessary. Both are stand alone books. What a read

It was nicely written, but very early on in the book it was clear who was the responsible party and then it was a matter of would it be resolved or not. This was a real bummer for me as I like the 'whodunnit' part of crimi's. Otherwise a good book, an easy read and not too gory. All in all, a great starter if you're new to the crime genre I think.

It took sooooo long just to get anywhere with this story. I did enjoy the depth in which the author went to give each character a chance but there wasn't anything thrilling about this novel...
adventurous challenging
