I was worried about a Spin off, especially after the third book. But I love the Guild Codex series so I dug in. Amazing book that is just as strong as the original and a great addition. Definitely read before Demon Magic and a Martini.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love when authors are just here for a good time
There is definitely something about this I found interesting. I wish to know more about the demons and I liked both the mc's. If I had nothing else to do, I would continue the series but as I am very busy, I will most likely not. I did like Zylas but felt like I got too little of him.
I was a bit disappointed we got 0 romance in this book because if I would have at least gotten something (and liked it) I would most likely continued on to book 2.

3,5✨
Great start for a series, with a great set of characters and the hopes of the building of a magnificent main character.
Im looking forward to the rest of the series❤️✨

I read the whole series over the weekend. At this point I've gotten the hang of Annette Marie books and this was good. Robin takes a while to warm up to because she is really timid in the beginning, but she does have a great arc by the end of the four books.
I was a little bothered by the way Zylas was described (very Ofhered). That, and how he seemed a mix of animal and human, and how demons are essentially enslaved to humans, did have icky implications but I'm glad that the romance novel HEA prevailed. I was so relieved that demons cannot be enslaved anymore.

Read in a day
Dorky, lacking confidence and height, Robin is getting used to being pushed around since her parents death until one mildly rebellious impulse brings her face to face with a demon. A handful of baked goods later, she is in over her head and in serious trouble.
I love the MC in this, she is so not a hero and doesn't really want to be. The relationship that develops between Robin and her demon is sweet and hilarious.
Can't wait for the next one!
