Great Read

This was a fast, fun read that I really enjoyed. The action and storyline grabbed me and I read it in one sitting. I loved the characters and their banter had me laughing. I definitely recommend.

+ A fun and interesting read.
+At the beginning, some may find Robin boring and a bit whiny. But as the book goes on, she becomes a lot more tolerable. She is still kinda dumb though, despite being intelligent!
+Robin & Zylas; BFFs for lyf.

-The beginning of the books is a lot of info dumping but once you get passed the 30% mark, the real story begins.

I just finished reading this in two days... And what can I say? This book is simply an absolute masterpiece beyond words. I enjoyed every page of it from start to finish. Annette is brilliant (as always) in creating a world that I want to live, breathe and taste Robin's delectable cookies in myself. Filled with hilarious moments, heartfelt sympathy, magical mysteries and kickass action - this book has captured my heart and soul. I can relate to Robin so much it's not funny (we need more shy, bookworm, glasses-wearing heroines!). I regret nothing except not reading this earlier! And now please excuse me while I try my best not to devour the next book... and then drown in tears of sorrow because there's still two more books coming out I'll have to pine for like the lovesick bookworm I am.

tldr: DNF, MC got on my last nerve
It jumps right in which is great, the plot is moving, but the MC voice is a bit tooooo naive. A bit too repetitive, v repetitively helpless, and so she comes across as consistently pathetic. unfortunately.

But It's like, girl I get it- you know, trauma! grief! just lost your parents a few months ago! I get it! but like to some degree you do not have to sniffle your way through every moment. And be so self-conscious and embarrassed all the time, like NO, get ANGRY instead! Practice your confidence!!! Fake it till u make it!

She keeps using the word HELPLESS to describe HERSELF!! Like it mashes ME frustrated to see her so timid like that! Still gonna read it tho. Hope her character grows.

---UGH OK NOPE, UGH SHES SO FOOLISH and her sense of self-righteousness is so ...inopportune and misplaced, like WHERE IS this determination when it comes to standing up for YOURSELF??!

I'm DNF at 67% of the book and I have not found ONE redeeming quality of her where the demon miiiight fall into Like with her... or even anyone else! as a person!
She is utterly ridiculous. FOOLISH, CARELESS, MISPLACED, BAD JUDGEMENT, INFURIATING, EXPECTS FORGIVENESS AND KINDNESS FROM SOMEONE SHE ALMOST GOT KILLED!! LIKE WAT.
I'm sorry to say but... yea smh.

Quick read! It was entertaining enough and a short read! I like that the main character is a book nerd who likes to bake.. so relatable haha!

Read upto 80% and skipped ahead to the end

It was quite enjoyable, albeit the heroine being a bit TSTL at times. I get that she's gradually growing but the romance was too clean (basically non-existent) for my tastes, so I don't have much patience for now. I quite liked their dynamic but it's too slow. Plus I jumped ahead to the end of the series (read a sorta-spoilery review) and learned that the heroine would remain mortal while the hero is obviously immortal, which definitely makes me want to finish this even less. I did like the writing style a lot though. Might read something else by this author.

This book surpassed my expectations! The dynamic between Robin and Zylas is great. This sort of trust /understanding that builds between them is interesting. I’m curious to see what is next!
