A little squirmy to read because it's almost too realistic, too relevant, and too timely. It's not as clever and wicked as The Change, but it was fun to read.

What an absolute gem of a book! I think @kirstenmillerbooks did a fantastic job! She writes in such a way that you dont even realise the seeds of knowledge she is planting. This book deals with controversial issues in a light-hearted yet serious way. Subjects were approached in a way that broke down the stereotyping and explored why. I think this book is a national treasure and should be set reading in every high school out there. This should be gifted to the Karen's of our world, and maybe they can learn something. Lula will turn in her grave at the thought of this, and that makes it even better somehow. I dare you to read this and walk away unscathed. I have added some banned books to my tbr after this.
3.5 A bit silly, but I think that was the point. It wrapped up a bit neatly, although it's meant to be a fun book and not heavy.

brilliant concept but GOD did the execution fall short…i see I’m in the minority here, but I had to suspend my disbelief way too often for a book about the reality we live in. how did everyone magically stumble upon exactly the book they needed to answer their burning question or solve their problem first try? (I realize this was to prove the point of the book - but suspending my disbelief after the fourth or fifth time was a lot.) why were there so many characters? why was lula dean so one-dimensional? I don’t know. it felt disingenuous and ill-fitting to conclude a story tackling book banning (an issue that is very real and alive and disheartening) with an overly saccharine fairy-tale ending for everyone involved. not that we shouldn’t have hope! but this didn’t feel like hope, it felt firmly like fiction.
