I do not read children's literature frequently. In fact, the other book that I would categorize as children's literature (middle of elementary school age or a little younger) in this category (middle grades and children's literature) I have already chosen not to read for that reason.
This one, however, intrigued me so I checked it out as an ebook from my library.
I loved it, even though it took me less than five minutes to read.
Joanna Ho created a beautiful story celebrating those "eyes that kiss in the corners," a phrase which she uses as a motif throughout the entire story. The main character describes her eyes by comparing them to her mother, grandmother, and little sister. The section where Ho describes how the younger sister looks up to the protagonist brought a smile to my face.
Plus, I went to Joanna Ho's website and absolutely adore her. I cannot wait for her upcoming young adult novel.

Absolutely gorgeous
No Rating because it's a children's book. This will be my choice for the GRCA 2021 for the Middle Grade / Children's Category.
