This book has it all: action, humor, romance, mystery, lovable characters, swoon-worthy moments, and witty dialogue. I laughed out loud so many times.

One of my favorite moments is a scene in which Cade checks to see if Paisley wants him to kiss her. She responds, “I don’t know” to which he answers that “I don’t know is a “no” in my book”. Cade is a GOOD man.

If I wrote everything I loved about this book - the review would be too long. So in summary, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a wholesome romance with plenty of adventure and humor.

I don't know what it is about her writing style, but it just isn't my cup of tea. I heard the next two are better, so I might try one of those out, but yeah. Overall I feel like she writes her women in as secondary characters and the main man in the book can do no wrong even if they're bums. I also feel like I had an especially hard time with these because all I could think about was how much better These is My Words is.

Sarah M. Eden is known for her light-hearted romances featuring fun, playful banter between leading men and women. THE SHERIFFS OF SAVAGE WELLS is no exception. It features two candidates vying for the job of small-town sheriff, which makes them natural enemies—who are just a little bit attracted to each other :) What results is a funny, swoony stand-off between two admirable, likable characters who are surrounded by a whole town full of quirky folk. If you can't tell, this book is really an enjoyable, entertaining tale. It's clean, it's upbeat, it's light-hearted, it's fun. It's also much longer than it needs to be, which is really my only complaint. Overall, I'd give it a B-.

I tried to get into this book, since I did enjoy another book of hers I've read, but this one just didn't work for me. I felt like the characters were too silly to be taken seriously at all, and the whole set up didn't really seem realistic for that time period. And the romance between the two characters had me almost literally gagging. Just not for me.

Pros: storyline moved along quickly, strong female lead, clean
Cons: overdone/ teenager-ish romance situations with heart palpitations and blood boiling, main character was not my favorite.

The small, secluded town of Savage Wells needs a sheriff. Wearing a dress with a gun strapped to her hip, Paisley Bell is ready to take the job. She’s basically been doing all the sheriff’s duties since the last sheriff just up and left town. She can’t understand why the town council wants to bring other candidates in for the job. She’s proven she’s capable more than once!

Cade O’Brien wants a change from his rough life as a lawman. He’s tired of hunting and shooting bad guys. Being sheriff in a small, quiet town is just the job he needs to find peace after so many years.

Paisley and Cade butt heads immediately. Paisley is spunky and doesn’t back down from a challenge. Cade is a no-nonsense type man. Their banter was great and I love the way they teased each other. I loved how Cade always respected Paisley. He didn’t dismiss her from possibly being sheriff just because she was female.

The town of Savage Wells has so many great side characters too! When money goes missing from the local bank, Cade and Paisley have to work together and get the whole town involved to solve the mystery!

This is a clean romance.

This is a proper romance which means no sex, no blood and gore and a HEA. There is no cliffhanger and I’m hoping like crazy it will become a series.

As I was walking through BEA this spring, this cover caught my attention. At the time, I didn’t know what “proper” romance meant. All it means is that it’s not erotica nor laced with religious connotations. I talked to the publisher and though they were plugging “proper” romances, they weren’t plugging any book in particular. While the cover attracted me to this book, the informative sell is what attracted me to Shadow Mountain.

This story was very easy reading romance. If you were looking for something to settle in with and feel good about, this is what you should pick up.

Paisley wants to help people and the only thing she feels she’s good at is being a lawman. She’s quite brilliant at it but as we all know, that time in the wild west was not known for giving women a chance at careers that did not include wife and mother. It also was not a time that men were nearly so open minded about women having a career.

This incredible story led me through Paisley’s trials and tribulations and finally, she got credit for all her hard work. I know I shouldn’t look for credit, but it’s always nice to see when someone works so hard at something and gets noticed for it.

I enjoyed this book. It was one of those that I picked up and had a very hard time putting it down. It wasn’t so much action and adventure, it was more like I found a kindred soul in Paisley Bell.
