This was a quick, fun read…albeit a little forgettable. It definitely services as a good reminder that America is broken and the price of insulin is absolutely criminal.

I really loved the dynamic between the two MCs. The pets really took it to the next level! There were many things I didn’t see coming, or twists I saw coming but they went further than I thought.

Soooo this one was super hot - and not at all what I expected!

From the blurb it made it seem like it would be very focused on sex and the BDSM aspects, but Gideon turned out to be such a caring and nurturing Daddy dom. I mean don’t get me wrong, there were definitely some sadistic tendencies present, but the way he took care of Callum was just so sweet and tender.

There’s a bit of a side twist to the plot which I didn’t see coming at all, but I appreciated it since it added another layer to the story and to Gideon’s past. I wanted to know more of Gideon’s past overall, I feel like it just barely scratched the surface of everything he’d been through.

I really liked Gideon and Callum’s story, it was hot & steamy - and if you like Daddy doms with marshmallow hearts you will absolutely love Gideon.

2nd time reading it, and i loved it just as much as the last time. I'm not the biggest fan of this narrator, so i'd say my first reading experience surpassed this one, but i loved being in this story once more. Gideon is my favorite kind of character. He's so genuine and only wants to take care of Cal the best we he could. I loved them together!

I wish the last few chapters were better. It felt like a very sloppy and rushed ending, I wish we got to see more of the dismantling of the operation. The epilogue was sweet, but I wanted to see them at least for one more chapter before they left to Boston. Not necessary scenes, but it would've been nice to send them off that way.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes & tags down below.

«Gideon made him feel small and vulnerable and… protected, but out in the real world, Cal had learned a long time ago that there was nobody who would protect him. Still, this charade was nice. It was nice to imagine somebody caring for him, looking out for him.»
I do love a sad-boy moment. There’s plenty of it in this one.

This book has 13 sex scenes. If you want something smutty with kinky Daddy/boy sex and a third-act plot instead of a third-act breakup, this is definitely the one for you.

I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the eventual plot was expanded on throughout the book, and not just added as what felt like an afterthought, almost. I mean, it’s well-written smut with some fun moments as well as some sad moments, so of course I enjoyed it, but there is something as too much of a good thing.

See below quote for a short book summary:

«“In my defense, I was sleeping with the student before you asked me to be the school’s interim headmaster. Also, I didn’t know he was in high school since he was a nineteen-year-old sex worker when we met.”»

4 stars if I rate it as what it is. Good smut.

«“You are pushing your luck, you little tease. Don’t think for a second I won’t pull off on the next exit and get a room just to spank your bottom until you beg me to stop.” Cal gasped in mock horror. “No. Please. Don’t,” he muttered, deadpan.»

«“You are relentless and impossible to surprise.” “Well, other than last night, the only surprises I’ve ever gotten usually involved me being punched in the face, either literally or metaphorically, so yeah, surprises aren’t really my thing.”»
