Less than 200 pages but it took me almost 3 days to finish this. I read Kawakami's book before and enjoyed it but somehow this one just didn't work for me. I pretty much dislike the main character, Yukihiko Nishino. He's just a pervert who hates commitment and afraid to fall in love.

Told from 10 different pov from various women who fell in love with him. Each chapter talked about sex and how they meet, the feeling between them at some place. The end. Would not recommend you to read this first if you want to try Kawakami's book. This one a little tricky to finish.

I didn’t really like this book, particularly the main character Nishino who seems to be a rather fickle guy incapable of loving and staying loyal to a single woman. Written in the form of ten chapters, each by a different woman who loved Nishino at one point in time, this novel is as much a character study of Nishino as that of the ten narrating female characters. On the whole, it feels like no one (including and mainly Nishino) has a clear identity, which makes this book so unsatisfying.

This book is amazing: poetic, elegant and melancholic.
It was a great reading experience and I hope I'll be able to read other book by this amazing author.
Highly recommended!
