changed from four stars to five on reread:

the last time i read this collection was a few years ago, and it is just as good when rereading! after studying it for college, i appreciate it more, especially the artwork.

I will remember the vivid imagery from this graphic novel forever. The different stories were incredibly immerse, often needing the reader to take a break and glance around your room, wondering what lies in the corners and walls.

I think I thought I had read this but maybe I haven't. Love E.M. Carroll's illustrative style and choice of colours, and some very spooky and poetic stories.

I'm not one for horror anything really.... novels, comics, graphic novels.... This book however was hard to put down. The illustrations and the stories leave you unsettled and frankly unsatisfied and yet I rate it high because I would read it again. If only to try and figure out the stories. Most of the stories leave you wondering... one in particular lets you see the monster directly and that one for me was the most satisfying. I had to go and look at the author's website and will probably read her other comics...

The artwork is beautiful but... it didn't scared me!

This is absolutely one I need to revisit to write a full review on, but holy shit. The illustrations are incredible. And the stories? Each of them gave me chills. Worst of all:
“But the worst kind of monster was the burrowing kind.
The sort that crawled into you and made a home there.
The sort you couldn’t name, the sort you couldn’t see.
The monster that ate you alive from the inside out.”
What a masterpiece.
