Dolly Alderton

An absorbing novel that dances the line between comedy and tragedy with sensitive treatment of dementia and wickedly sagacious commentary on life as a single woman in your 30s in the modern age. Astute, funny and with one of my favourite characters ever, the brilliant and loving Lola.

DNF’d @ 13%, 1hr 20mins

I wanted to DNF after the first chapter but thought I was being harsh so made it to chapter 3 and decided that’s where I have to draw the line. I don’t like Nina at all and I hate the way she speaks so negatively about her friends, also the way that she centres men in her life just isn’t for me.

I’ve been struggling to get back into reading after returning to work but this was the perfect way to get back to it. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
